Standing Comittees

School-to-Nature
Are you an educator, biologist-at-heart, environmentalist, or just love the woods and trails? Do you enjoy being around kids? The Conservancy initiated this committee in 2010 to expose area students to the natural world offered on the Conservancy lands, by connecting with local schools, offering guided hikes in spring and fall. Stewardship
Are you a great steward of the environment? Are you a passionate grower or gardener? If YES, then the Stewardship Committee is the team for you. The Conservancy maintains riding and walking trails, culverts, bridges, and fences, all kept open and safe for equestrian use, hiking, and nature appreciation, by different members of this volunteer group. Without their time and equipment, our trails would cease to exist.

Get to know us at our monthly trail clearings on the second Saturday of every month, from April through October. You’ll meet some great people and learn what our trail system has to offer. Contact Sandy DeWalt and get involved today!

Outreach
Are you a pro at event planning? Would you enjoy hosting or helping at events, and being connected to our community? The Outreach Committee is focused on sharing with others all that the Conservancy has to offer — with a vision for tomorrow. Each year we host several community-wide events, bring in volunteers and sponsors, secure funding and grants, and work with other Conservancy members to promote our values and reach out to the broader community. If this work appeals to you, come join the Outreach team!

Preservation
This committee focuses on preserving land through direct acquisitions and conservation easements, in accordance with the community’s Strategic Land Preservation Plan. To achieve the Conservancy’s preservation goals, Preservation Committee members provide leadership within the community by partnering with other organizations, conducting research, and applying for grants or funding in support of specific land acquisition projects.
