These are Turkey Tail Mushrooms that were mistaken for lichen. These mushrooms only eat dead wood. They are helpers when it comes to decomposing trees.

This gives you a real close look at the flower everybody works on getting out of their lawn.  It is a birds eye look at how many seeds you will have in your lawn next year. These are actually good flowers because they come early and are food for the early variety of bees.
